We are proud to announce the development of graduate medical education programs at Laredo Medical Center with new residency programs in Family Medicine and Internal Medicine set to matriculate the inaugural classes of residents in July 2018. The city of Laredo has never hosted GME programs in the past and the community is excited to welcome new medical trainees. These programs are accredited by the American Osteopathic Association, so the initial classes must be graduates of osteopathic medical schools. Applications are in process to obtain approval by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) so that future classes will accept both DO and MD graduates.
These programs are offered as a joint venture between Laredo Medical Center, the Texas Institution of Graduate Medical Education and Research (TIGMER), and the University of the Incarnate Word School of Osteopathic Medicine (UIWSOM) in San Antonio.
